I dug his large Pinus silvestris (Scotch pine) in the yerly spring of 98. The top was cut directly on site since it was to long and straight. I did leave a long section as a potential jin. The plant was planted in a garden bed in half shadow where it was left to grow in peace for two years. In the spring of 2000, I repotted to a large clay pot. Everything seems to be going fine since the new shots have grown well this year. Perhaps I shape this tree in the autumn.

The trunk is relatively straight with bark and sharis that indicate a very high age. The plants total height is 130 cm and the only living branch starts at the middle point from where it grows upwards before making a dramatic 180-degree downwards in cascade. I will use the entire remaining dead top as a long top jin, it will extend into a shari section on the trunk. The foliage will be shaped into a couple of distinct layers. The largest problem may be that the hanging branch is so thin that it moves a lot in the wind.
